STRIVING TO SERVE THE HUMANITY

Our Mission

MISSION

Introduction to Our Mission

Founded in 1994 and registered under the Trust Act of Pakistan (Reg. No. 297), Leprosy Patients Welfare Trust (LPWT) is a non-commercial, non-political, and voluntary organization committed to combating the social, economic, and health-related challenges faced by leprosy patients and their families in Pakistan. We envision a society where no one is marginalized or excluded due to illness, disability, or poverty.

Our mission stems from compassion, service, and the unwavering belief that every human being deserves respect, opportunity, and support, regardless of their medical condition or socio-economic background.

Core Components of Our Mission

1. Free & Quality Healthcare Access

LPWT offers free medical diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and transport facilities to leprosy patients, orphans, and vulnerable communities through our center in Manghopir, Karachi.

Our outpatient treatment facility ensures timely care and ongoing follow-up, with a special focus on early detection and prevention of deformities (PoD programs).

2. Social Rehabilitation & Reintegration

True healing is not limited to medicine alone. LPWT’s mission includes restoring the social and economic identity of patients, ensuring they are not just treated but fully reintegrated into society with dignity.

We offer life skills, vocational training, and micro-grants to enable patients to become economically independent and lead normal, productive lives.

3. Education for a Better Future

LPWT believes in breaking the cycle of generational poverty. Our Tanvir High School offers free education to over 200 children of leprosy patients and orphans—equipping them with tools for a better life.

Our Computer and Industrial Training Institutes empower young minds with 21st-century skills to secure future employment.

4. Self-Reliance over Dependency

Our core goal is to empower rather than create dependence. Every service we offer is designed to help individuals stand on their own feet and contribute positively to society.

We aim to transform lives—from patients and beggars to professionals, skilled workers, and dignified citizens.

Why Our Mission Matters

Leprosy, while medically curable, continues to leave deep scars of social stigma, poverty, and neglect. Our mission directly addresses these challenges, focusing not just on medical treatment, but on long-term transformation—where health, dignity, and opportunity go hand in hand.

VISION

VISION OF LEPROSY PATIENTS WELFARE TRUST (LPWT)

“A Pakistan free from the stigma of leprosy—where every affected individual has equal opportunity, full inclusion, and lives with dignity, hope, and purpose.”

Our Future Outlook

At LPWT, our vision looks beyond treatment—it envisions a transformed society. A society that does not judge, exclude, or isolate individuals based on a disease they never chose. We see a future where leprosy-affected individuals are not just cured medically, but fully accepted socially.

Our work, our services, and our advocacy all reflect this higher vision.

Guiding Principles of Our Vision

1. Dignity for All

We dream of a time when leprosy patients are no longer treated as outcasts but as valued members of society, deserving of the same rights, opportunities, and respect as any other citizen.

2. Health with Humanity

While leprosy is under control in Pakistan, hundreds still suffer from the disease and its social consequences. Our vision is to ensure continued awareness, timely diagnosis, and sustainable medical care until leprosy is eradicated and no one suffers in silence.

3. from Isolation to Integration

We envision communities where those affected by leprosy are no longer isolated physically, economically, or socially—but are encouraged, welcomed, and uplifted.

4. Empowered Families, Not Broken Lives

We dream of rebuilding broken families—by empowering parents with skills, giving children access to education, and helping families build stable futures.

5. Self-Sustaining and Scalable Solutions

Our vision includes expanding our model of community-based rehabilitation across Pakistan through replicable, self-sustaining systems that can grow without dependency on external aid.

Vision in Action: A Snapshot

Our vision is embodied every day in:

The smiles of children studying at Tanvir High School.

The self-confidence of women learning to stitch in our Industrial Home.

The transformation of a patient who once begged, now runs a small business with our support.

Dignity is restored when a widow receives basic necessities and emergency financial aid.
